SOUTHERN PINES, NC (August 5, 2016) -- The Carolinas Golf Association, in conjunction with the Virginia State Golf Association and the West Virginia Golf Association, announced modifications to the structure of the Captain’s Putter teams. The changes that will be in effect for the 2016 matches, set for Kinloch Golf Club in October.

The Captain’s Putter matches pit a team of 24 top players from Virginia and West Virginia against a team of 24 top players from North Carolina and South Carolina. The Carolinas team ended a four-year losing streak in the matches with its victory over the Virginias team last October at Old Town Club in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The modification of the event is the addition of two super senior players, age 65 or older, to the rosters of the respective teams. The change will not alter the total number of players on each side, but will leave each team with 14 regular players (previously 16), eight seniors and two super seniors.

The two Super Senior players that represent the Carolinas will be selected from Senior Men’s player rankings.

The 71st Captain’s Putter Matches will be held Oct. 14-15 at Kinloch Golf Club in Manakin-Sabot, Virginia.
