Colonial Country Club’s Chad Wilfong of Charlotte, N.C. and Freddie Miller of Thomasville, N.C. are back to defend their title at the 42nd Carolinas Club Championship. Last year, we battled in the freezing rain but our winners still managed to make nine birdies in route to their 6-under-par, 65.

A total of 53 sides will compete in the 42nd playing of this championship. The host club will be represented by amateurs, Chris Cassetta of High Point, N.C. and Matthew Crenshaw of Burlington, N.C. Crenshaw won the Championship in 2012 representing Alamance Country Club with Adam McLaughlin.

The 2011 champions, Brian Kittler and Bill Smith of Raleigh, N.C. are back to represent Raleigh Country Club in this year’s Championship. Half of the 2013 Championship winning side, Timothy Driver of Holly Springs, N.C. has teamed up with golf professional, Andy Gregory of Holly Springs, N.C. to represent The Club at 12 Oaks. The 2004 champion, Mark Slawter of Winston-Salem, N.C. has teamed up with Sean Branagan of Winston-Salem, N.C. to represent Maple Chase Golf & Country Club. Two-time champion, Jim Brotherton of High Point, N.C. (1996, 1999) has teamed up with Matt Cromer of High Point, N.C. to represent High Point Country Club.

The 2019 Carolinas PGA Professional champion, Matt Vick of Pinehurst, N.C. is in this year’s field and has teamed up with Dale Bouguennec of Pinehurst, N.C. to represent Pinehurst Resort & Country Club.

This is the sixth consecutive year that the Carolinas Club Championship will be held on the Ross Course. A great friend to the Carolinas Golf Association, this marks the 20th CGA championship hosted by Sedgefield Country Club. Sedgefield was the first home to the Greater Greensboro Open when it started in 1938, alternating with Starmount Country Club until 1961, and hosting every year until 1976. The tournament returned to Sedgefield in 2008 with the name Wyndham Championship.

The championship is conducted at 18 holes of four-ball stroke play. Gross scores only. A tie for the overall championship is decided by an on-course playoff. All other ties will be split.

Entry is open to any team comprised of: a. A male or female golf professional who is a member of the club’s golf professional staff employed by a Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) Member Club and a male or female amateur golfer who is a member in good standing of the same CGA Member Club. b.
