Meet Our 2023 CGA Interns

Carrington Dirks 

Communications Intern

Carrington Dirks is a native of Clinton, NC and is a rising senior at the University of South Carolina where she is pursuing a degree in sport and entertainment management. Growing up Carrington always loved sports but did not get into golf until her junior year of high school and has loved it ever since. During her spare time, Carrington enjoys attending Gamecock sporting events, going for walks, and baking. 

 

Drew Fields

Operations Intern

Drew Fields just completed his junior year at the University of South Carolina where he is majoring in Operations and Supply Chain Management. He is a native of Cary, North Carolina. Drew has been playing golf since he was little. In his free time, Drew enjoys carpentry and is an avid sports fan. 

 

Vileska Gelpi

Operations Intern

Vileska Gelpi is an upcoming junior, but is currently transferring out of North Carolina A&T State University to continue her golf career. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native has played golf for 14 years now, 10 years competitively. She now plays D1 collegiate women's golf and hopes to turn professional in the upcoming years. If not, she aspires to become a golf coach or do sports broadcasting. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, shopping, hunting, fishing, and traveling. 

 

Ben Hays

Operations Intern

Benjamin Hays is a rising sophomore and goes to N.C. State University. He is from Cary, North Carolina and is in the Poole College of Management. He was first introduced to golf when he was six years old and has loved the game ever since. His first passion was golf course design. Everyday after school, he would design his own golf courses. In his later years, he got into the competitive side of the game and played tournaments such as the Carolinas Junior, North South Junior and more. He currently plays club golf at NCSU and hopes to learn more about the golf industry and meet great people along the way at the CGA.                                               

 

Andrew Kissell

Operations Intern

Andrew Kissell is a rising senior at NC State studying sport management. He is a Raleigh, North Carolina native and has lived there his entire life. He works with the NC State Baseball team as a team manager and bullpen catcher. He has worked at various golf courses in the Raleigh area and has a strong interest in pursuing a career in golf. Andrew’s goals are to connect and network with people in the golf industry and demonstrate a strong work ethic in everything he does. 

 

Cecelia Macchione

Communications Intern

Cecelia Macchione is going to be a senior at Clemson University who is pursuing degrees in sports communications and marketing. Macchione is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina. She works with various teams through Clemson Athletics within its sports information department. After interning in the 2022 U.S. Women’s Open with the USGA Championship Communications staff, she knew that she wanted to pursue an internship in golf. During her spare time, Cecelia enjoys watching all Clemson Tiger sports, going on walks, and spending time with her friends and puppy. 

 

Daniel Magen

Operations Intern

Daniel Magen originally from Rolesville, North Carolina. He is currently pursuing his MBA at Methodist University. Daniel received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Sport Management, and Marketing from Methodist University. During his time at Methodist, Daniel was co-captain of the men’s soccer team, President of the Student Government Association, and Vice President of his fraternity. Daniel has worked at multiple golf courses and enjoys learning new things. During his spare time, he watches Liverpool FC matches, cooking, working out, and watching movies.  Daniel is passionate about the golf industry and looks forward to this opportunity to further his knowledge and meet more people along the way.  

 

Quentin Yroz

Communications Intern

Quentin Yroz is an upcoming senior at the University of Georgia and majors in Journalism Sports Media and minors in Sports Management. He is from Tiburon, California and has lived in California his entire life. He volunteers with the Georgia Basketball team on the communications squad. He enjoys being active and playing sports like basketball, football, and golf. He is a huge sports fan of the Golden State Warriors and the Las Vegas Raiders. During this opportunity he wants to improve his writing, content creating and getting to know everyone on the team.
