Tim Teaster + Rick Cloninger of Cayce, S.C., and Rock Hill, S.C. took home the coveted crowns today at the twelve playing of the Carolinas Super Senior Four-Ball Championship contested at Blowing Rock Country Club. They would rise to the top much like the foggy conditions finally did, with the opening round delayed over five hours yesterday.

Today, the fog made another unwanted appearance, delaying play until 1 p.m. After an attempt to get going, visibility became unplayable, resulting in just round one being completed and the championship cut back to 18 holes.

Teaster and Cloninger captured the 65+ Division on the strength of nine birdies and one eagle scattered over their strong 64, 8-under round. Right behind them at 7-under were the team of Todd Brown + Rick Alspaugh of Winston-Salem, N.C., firing a 63 that included six of seven birdies over holes 8-14. Tied in third place were the duos of Steve Fox + Preston Edmondson of Pinehurst, N.C., and Morrisville, N.C., and Donald Detweiler + Andy Burnette of Raleigh, N.C., with respectable 6-under scorecards.

Raymond Davis + John Bunn of Apex, N.C., and Raleigh, N.C., tied for first in the 70+ Division with Tim Pope + Roger Page of Spartanburg, S.C., and Duncan, S.C., at 6-under each. Unfortunately, with the weather issues, playoffs couldn’t be conducted, and both teams will share the title.

Tied in third behind the winning groups were William Boles + Robert Desjardins of Wilson, N.C., and Matthews, N.C., and Don Slater + Rickey Luzar of Durham, N.C., Pinehurst, N.C., each shooting 5-under, 67 rounds.

The Carolinas Golf Association would like to thank the Blowing Rock Country Club members and staff, especially Director of Golf Andrew Glover and Course Superintendent Josh Costner, for graciously hosting the 12th Carolinas Super Senior Four-Ball Championship.
