Ron Carpenter and Gary Brown win 46th Carolinas Senior Four-Ball Championship
DAVIDSON, NC – Final round results of the 46th Carolinas Senior Four-Ball Championship of the Carolinas Golf Association hosted by River Run Country Club in Davidson, NC on Thursday, April 17, 2014. (Par 36-36—72, 6,350 yards, Rating: 70.9/132).
Ron Carpenter of Creedmoor, NC and Gary Brown of Charlotte, NC came from one shot behind to claim their second CGA four-ball championship as partners. 2011 North Carolina Senior Four-Ball Champions, Carpenter and Brown were shocked to win the 46th Carolinas Senior Four-Ball Championship. “We were really surprised to win honestly,” Brown said. “We figured the guys behind us would go low.” Playing in the penultimate group thanks to a birdie-eagle finish Wednesday to card a 67, the pair had five birdies to go with one lone bogey on Thursday to finish the championship 9-under par and win by one.
Brown on his partner, “Ron made lots of critical putts from 5 or 6 feet for par to keep us in it.” “The birdie-eagle finish yesterday really saved our round, and we made enough birdies today” Carpenter added.
Defending champions, Arlis Pike and Michael Roland finished tied for 6th at 5-under par. Mo York from Mt. Pleasant, SC aced the 165-yard par-3 8th hole today.
The Carolinas Senior Four-Ball Championship was shortened to 36 holes after the first round was cancelled Tuesday due to course flooding.

This championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association which is in its 105th year of serving amateur golfers throughout North and South Carolina.
