WEST END, NC (6/21/14) -- The 18th North Carolina Junior Girls' Championship will be held at the Starmount Forest Country Club in Greensboro, NC on June 24-27, 2014.

35 players have entered the 2014 NC Junior Girls' Championship. The championship format is match play with an 18 hole stroke play qualifier (on Tuesday, June 24th) to determine the seeding for match play. The top 32 girls from the stroke play qualifier will advance to match play.

Originally completed in 1930, the course was renovated in 1971 and totally rebuilt in 1999. The course reveals itself over 155 beautiful acres and offers a tremendous test for the most avid golfer. Starmount Forest was the original home for the Greater Greensboro Open from 1938 until 1960. Sam Snead won the initial GGO and finished his career with a total of 8 Greater Greensboro Open championships. Starmount Forest was the host site for the 2nd Women's U.S. Open in 1947 with Hall of Famer Betty Jameson taking home the championship. Starmount Forest CC has hosted 3 CGA Championships: 2001 North Carolina Senior; 2004 North Carolina Mid-Amateur; and 2007 North Carolina Amateur as well as the 2012 Dogwood State Junior Championship.

In the 2013 NC Junior Girls' championship, Lucia Polo of Greensboro, NC defeated Emilia Migliaccio, Cary, NC by a score of 5 and 3 to win the Championship. Polo and Migliaccio are not entered in this year's championship.
