New Women's Match Play Champ Format

New Women's Match Play Championship Format
Tournament division will use net scores for match play

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. -- The Carolinas Golf Association will conduct the 18th Carolinas Women's Match Play Championship at Cowans Ford Golf Club in Stanley, N.C. on July 7-9, 2015. Entries are being accepted via the championship website thru June 30.

The format is 18 holes of stroke play to determine seeding and flights for match play. Players have the option to compete in either the “Championship” division or “Tournament” division.

New for this year, the Tournament division will compete using gross scores for stroke play qualifying and net scores for match play. Matches will be stroked off the low ball (lower handicap competitor playing at scratch and the higher handicap competitor receiving the difference in course handicaps between the two competitors). The Tournament division plays a shorter course and is ineligible for the overall championship.
