CAMDEN, SC – First round results of the 65th Carolinas Four-Ball Championship hosted by Camden Country Club in Camden, S.C. on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 (6455 yards, par 35-35—70, 71.6/128).
A trio of teams shot five-under 65 to lead after the first round of stroke play qualifying for the Carolinas Four-Ball Championship. Paul Tucker of Waxhaw, N.C. - Brent Roof of Columbia, S.C., Zachary Bishop of Travelers Rest, S.C. - Matt Carter of Easley, S.C. and Philip Oweida of Charlotte, N.C. - William Rainey of Charlotte, N.C. hold the lead.
The defending champions, Zachary Martin and John Grimes, are not in the 2016 field.
There are 33 teams within 5 shots of the lead and every team in the field still has a chance to make match play. The championship format is contested over 36-holes of four-ball stroke play to determine 32 qualifiers for match play.

The Carolinas Four-Ball Championship is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 13th birthday by the first day of the championship, is a resident of North Carolina or South Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association and has an active USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club.
