Inaugural Carolinian Am Starts Friday


SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (May 19, 2016) -- The inaugural Carolinian Amateur starts play on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Keith Hills Golf Club in Buies Creek, N.C.  The tournament format is 54-holes of stroke play for male amateur golfers ages 16 and older who have a USGA handicap index of 7.4 or lower at a CGA member club.  The field will be reduced to the low 70 and ties after 36-holes.  The champion will receive an exemption into the 102nd Carolinas Amateur being hosted by the Country Club of Charleston in Charleston, S.C. on July 14-17, 2016. The top 30 finishers will receive gift certificates to the Keith Hills GC golf shop.

An anticipated field of 137 golfers will compete on the Ellis Maples designed Orange and Black nines that opened for play in 1974 and has hosted six CGA championships including the Carolinas Junior (1991), the NC Junior (1982), the NC Senior (1998-1999), the N.C. Four-Ball (2009) and the N.C. Senior Women’s (2006) along with numerous USGA amateur qualifying tournaments. Keith Hills GC is the home golf course for the men’s and women’s golf programs at Campbell University.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)
