Cabarrus CC to host 12th Dogwood State Junior

The Carolinas Golf Association has announced that Cabarrus CC in Concord, NC will host the 12th Dogwood State Junior Championship on August 9-11, 2016.  An anticipated field of 144 golfers both boys and girls will compete on the George Cobb designed course at Cabarrus CC.

Each year junior golfers from across North Carolina compete in this annual stroke play championship.  Past boy’s champions include Daniel Meggs, Ben Kohles, Michael McGowan, Carter Jenkins and defending champion Walter Brinker.  Past girl’s champions include Amber Littman, Courtney Taylor, Allison Emrey, Sarah Bae, Jennifer Chang and two time defending champion Callista Rice.  The champions will be invited to represent the Carolinas in their respective junior team matches in 2017.

The results will be used for rankings by the TYGA, Junior Golf Scoreboard, and the World Amateur Golf Rankings along with the AJGA’s PBE.  The girls’ champion and the top 5 in the boys’ division will earn full exempt status with the AJGA.

At more than 7,000 yards, Cabarrus CC is a championship layout that provides a challenging round to golfers of all skill levels. Founded in 1927, the Club is one of the oldest and, more importantly, one of the friendliest country clubs in the South.
