Carolinas Golf Association Announces 2013 CGAcers Hole-in-One Club Contest Winners

West End, NC – The Carolinas Golf Association announced the winners of the 2013 CGAcer Hole in One Club Contest held on January 31, 2014.  CGA members who made a hole in one in 2013 and submitted an application were eligible.  Prizes for the 2013 annual drawing for holes-in-one winners are:

  • 1st Place – CGA Tervis Tumbler Set, CGA License Plate, CGA Hat and “Golf in the Carolinas” Centennial Book
  • 2nd Place – CGA Towel, CGA License Plate, CGA Hat and “Golf in the Carolinas” Centennial Book
  • 3rd Place – CGA License Plate, CGA Hat and “Golf in the Carolinas” Centennial Book

The 2013 winners are:

  • Justin Hornick (Roebuck, SC) – February 27 (Hole 11 – 132 Yards – Gap Wedge) Three Pines Country Club, Woodruff, SC.
  • Bill Cannon (Winston-Salem, NC) – November 4 (Hole 17 – 135 Yards – 7 Iron) Meadowlands Golf Club, Winston-Salem, NC.
  • Joel Porter (Southport, NC) – September 10 (Hole 12 – 148 Yards – 5 Iron) Members Club at St. James Plantation, Southport, NC.

All three golfers had their holes-in-one at their respective CGA member club.

Two hundred and seventy one (271) members submitted applications to the CGAcers club for holes-in-one in 2013.  The longest ace made was a 275 yarder on August 16 by Chris Fuhrmann from Raleigh, NC at the Raleigh Golf Association in Raleigh, NC.  Fuhrmann used a driver on Hole #10.  The shortest ace was a 71 yard 7-iron shot made by Benjamin Parr from Myrtle Beach, SC on September 27 at Black Bear Golf Club, Longs, SC on the 3rd hole. 

Nine golfers accomplished the rare feat of recording two (2) Holes-In-One in the same calendar year

  • John Allen Albree (Columbus, NC) –February 25(Hole 9 – 126 Yards – 7 Wood) and May 31 (Hole 5 – 166 Yards – 3 Wood) – both at Tryon Country Club in Tryon, NC.
  • Tommy Berra (Nags Head, NC) – January 14 (Hole 10 – 142 yards – 7 Iron) and March 2 (Hole 3 – 99 Yards – Pitching Wedge) – both at Nags Head Golf Links in Nags Head, NC.
  • Paul Hadlock (Southport, NC) – May 6 (Hole 16 – 168 Yards – 4 Wood) at the Members Club at St. James Plantation in Southport, NC and May 10 (Hole 2 – 188 Yards – 5 Wood) at the Reserve Club at St. James Plantation in Southport, NC.
  • Raymond Jiang (Raleigh, NC) – June 8 (Hole 12 – 158 Yards – 5 Iron) and December 21 (Hole 4 – 170 Yards – 4 Hybrid) – both at Wildwood Green Golf Club in Raleigh, NC.
  • Jay Meadows (Elizabeth City, NC) - March 11 (Hole 12 – 180 Yards – 5 Iron) and September 5 (Hole 112 – 194 Yards – 4 Iron) – both at the Pines at Elizabeth City, Elizabeth City, NC.
  • Wayne Moody (Southport, NC) – April 21 (Hole 11 – 135 Yards – 7 Iron) at the Players Club at St. James Plantation in Southport, NC and August 4 (Hole 13 – 130 Yards – 8 Iron) at the Reserve Club at St. James Plantation in Southport, NC.
  • Sue Sinclaire (Southport, NC) – March 18 (Hole 16 – 119 Yards – 5 Wood) at the Reserve Club at St. James Plantation in Southport, NC and September 26 (Hole 6 – 140 Yards – Driver) at Lockwood Folly Country Club in Supply, NC
  • Charles Waller (Hilton Head Island, SC) – February 16 (Hole 7 – 138 Yards – 6 Rescue) and June 18 (Hole 7 – 135 Yards – 7 Iron) – both at the North Course at Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head Island, SC.
  • Brigham Young (Santee, SC) – May 24 (Hole 3 – 136 Yards – 7 Iron) and June 9 (Hole 11 – 131 Yards – 8 Iron) – both at Santee Cooper Country Club in Santee, SC.

ENTRIES ARE NOW OPEN FOR 2014

Join the fun!  If you are a CGA member who makes a hole in one in 2014, let us know.

The CGA will be awarding prizes again for 2014.  The random drawing will take place on January 31, 2015 and all holes-in-one must be received at the CGA office no later than January 15, 2015.  The CGAcer hole-in-one form is available on our website and must be completed and submitted for eligibility.  The hole-in-one must be scored from January 1 through December 31, 2014.  Your name will be entered for EACH hole-in-one made in 2014.  You must be a current CGA member and carry an active USGA GHIN/CGA handicap to be eligible.  CGA Staff, executive members and their families are ineligible.  Prizes will change annually.
