CGA Announces Five Paid Internships


SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (November 15, 2016) -- The Carolinas Golf Association announces five paid internship opportunities for 2017. These three-month experiences involve exposure to all aspects of golf administration including but not limited to: championships, qualifiers and one-day tournaments; handicap and course rating department; communications; membership and general office administration.

Interns will perform a variety of functions at tournaments: course set-up, starting, scoring and media/photography.  This provides a wide-ranging experience for an individual seeking to pursue a career in golf administration.  Four internships will focus on tournament administration, which includes course marking, course set-up, producing starting times and pairings, starting, scoring, on-course officiating, pace of play, Rules of Golf, and preliminary office preparation for CGA, TYGA and USGA qualifying events. One internship will focus on tournament communications such as providing event coverage by writing stories/recaps, preparing printed materials, photography and video work, and social media usage.

Dates of employment are May 15 - August 15, 2017. Those start/end dates are flexible. Cover letter and resumes should be submitted via email by February 17, 2017. Three internships are financially supported by the USGA P.J. Boatwright intern program and two are funded by the CGA.

The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization located in Southern Pines, NC that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golfers. The CGA is the second largest golf association in the country over 700 member clubs represented by nearly 150,000 individuals. The Tarheel Youth Golf Association (TYGA) is the CGA’s junior program for North Carolina.
