Sasha Hayes of Winston Salem propelled herself to a five-shot lead after the second round of the 13th Dogwood State Junior Girls' Championship at Pinewood Country Club in Asheboro N.C. After finishing the second round at two-over, 146 overall, Hayes noted she played the course just like she did yesterday and recorded one more birdie and one less bogey than in the first round.

Hayes made three bogeys on the day, but negated two of them with 15-foot birdie putts on Nos. 3 and 8. After being one-over at the turn, a chip shot on the par-5 18th placed the ball five feet from the hole to give her the easy birdie putt that brought her back to even-par for the day. Heading into tomorrow's final round, Hayes will continue to keep things the same and take things one hole at a time. "I am just going to go out there and play my game. I have a big lead, so I just need to not take any risks, just keep it in the fairways and keep putting like I have been."

Round one leader Kayla Smith of Burlington fell to second place and stands at seven-over, 151 overall.

Tomorrow's final round will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a shotgun start.

Scoring will be provided by the CGA throughout the championship, offering 9 and 18-hole updates. Live updates will also be available on the CGA’s official Twitter, @CarolinasJunior.
