WALLCE, NC (April 3, 2018) – Final Results of the 24th Tar Heel Cup Matches hosted by River Landing in Wallace, NC on Tuesday, April 3, 2018.

The North Carolina Amateurs defeated the North Carolina Professionals 7 Points to 5 Points to win the 24th Tar Heel Cup Matches.  Chris Cassetta from High Point, NC drained a 15-foot birdie putt on the 15th hole to secure the Cup and the clinching point for the Amateurs.  The Amateurs led after Four-Ball Matches 2.5 to 1.5 and secured 4.5 points in Singles Matches to win.

Two teams of the best playing amateurs and PGA Professionals from the state of North Carolina met for the 24th time in a friendly team match play event called the "Tar Heel Cup."  River Landing Country Club located in Wallace, NC is hosting this event for the fourth time on its River Course.

For the fifth time since 2012, the CGA Amateur team won the cup from the Professionals, and have held the cup for six of last seven years.

Match 4: (Professionals) Chris Haarlow & John Faidley and (Amateurs) Tim Driver & Chris Cassetta, Halved

Tuesday’s Singles Results

Match 1: (Professional) Cory Schneider and (Amateur) David Gies, Halved

Match 2: (Amateur) Kevin O’ Connell def. (Professional) John Faidley, 1 up

Match 3: (Professional) Charles Frosh def. (Amateur) Justin Tereshko, 3 & 2

Match 4: (Professional) Matt Vick def. (Amateur) Chad Wilfong, 2 up

Match 5: (Professional) Larry George def. (Amateur) Daniel Neveu, 3 & 2

Match 6: (Amateur) Tim Driver def. (Professional) Josh Webb, 4 & 3

Match 7: (Amateur) Chris Cassetta def. (Professional) Scooter Buhrman, 3 & 2

Match 8: (Amateur) Jeremy Ray def. (Professional) Chris Haarlow, 8 & 6

The first team with 6½ points wins the Tar Heel Cup.  The PGA Professionals now hold an all-time lead of 14-7-3.
