Anna Grace Brock of Greenwood, S.C. secured girls' medalist honors at the South Carolina Junior Match Play Championship after posting an even-par, 72 in stroke play qualifying. Nicholas Mayfield of Rock Hill, S.C. shot a three-under-par, 69 on his way to taking the medalist honors in the boys' division.

Brock totaled six birdies in her round, but canceled them all out with two bogeys and two double bogeys. Brock said that missed fairways were the cause of her few struggles today.

"I just need to focus on hitting fairways and greens," said Brock, "I had some three putts so I'll also focus on speed with my putts tomorrow."

Brock could not hide her excitement for match play to begin tomorrow, though.

"I love it. I've always loved it," said Brock with a smile, "I feel confident and we'll just have to see what the week brings."

Mayfield was able to rack up five birdies himself, and only posted one double bogey on his home course.

There was a playoff to determine the final spot for the boys' division, with Aiken Golightly of Rock Hill, S.C. and Bennett Rudolph of Spartanburg, S.C. both shooting a 91 to tie for the 64th spot. Rudolph would go on to win the second playoff hole on No. 18 to secure his chance to pull off the upset over Mayfield tomorrow morning.

The South Carolina Junior Match Play Championship begins with 18 holes of stroke play qualifying for all divisions. The boys' division will then be cut to the low 64 for match play. The girls’ division will be cut to the low 16 for match play.
