13th Carolinas Pro-Junior Preview

2017 champions Christopher Wooten and John Faidley will return to this year's field to defend their title at the 13th Carolinas Pro-Junior at Prestonwood Country Club (Meadows) in Cary, N.C. on August 13, 2018.

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (August 10, 2018) -- The Carolinas Golf Association will conduct the 13th Carolinas Pro-Junior at Prestonwood Country Club (Meadows) in Cary, N.C. on August 13, 2018.

Teams to watch:

  • 2017 champions Christopher Wooten of Winston-Salem, N.C. and John Faidley of Winston-Salem, N.C. will return to this year's field to defend their title. In last year's competition, the duo carded a four-under-par 66 to take home the title by two strokes.

  • Walker Isley of Oak Island, N.C. and Steve Isley Jr. of Oak Island, N.C. will return to this year's field in hopes of redemption. The pair finished T2 at last year's competition with a two-under-par 68.

  • Will Hawley of Raleigh, N.C. and Paul Dickens of Wake Forest, N.C. carded a two-under-par 68 and finished T2 at last year's competition.

  • 2014 champion Clarence Rose of Goldsboro, N.C. will return to the event with his new partner, Ella June Hannant of Pikeville, N.C. Rose is a two-time CGA champion, and he won the North Carolina Amateur in 1978.

  • 2016 runners-up Nick Jacobi of Albemarle, N.C. and Chase Clayton of Locust, N.C. will join this year's field. The pair fell short of the title by just one stroke two years ago at River Run Country Club.

  • Nicole Adam of Pinehurst, N.C. and Donna Andrews of Southern Pines, N.C. will pair up for this year's event. Adam is currently the No. 2 junior girls' golfer in North Carolina and committed to play college golf at UNC-Chapel Hill. Andrews played on the LPGA Tour from 1990-2005 and recorded six professional wins, including a major victory at the Nabisco Dinah Shore in 1994. Andrews has also represented the United States in the Solheim Cup twice (1994 and 1998).

Prestonwood Country Club's golf courses were originally designed by golf course architect, Tom Jackson. The courses feature mirrored ponds and manicured greens that make for a challenging round of golf. The course underwent recent renovations that have enhanced play. Prestonwood has played host to some of the most celebrated golf talents and has been a favored venue of the SAS Championship, a PGA Tour Champions Tour event.

Format: 18 holes of Pinehurst foursomes stroke play where both team members play from the teeing ground, switch golf balls of the second shot, then select one ball for the third shot and play alternate shot unit until the ball is holed. A team must then complete the hole with the ball selected.

Entry is open to any team comprised of a golf professional and a junior golfer 8-18 years of age as of August 13, 2018, who has not started college. The professional and the junior golfer must be legal residents of North or South Carolina. Golf Professional does not have to be a member of the Carolinas PGA.

Scoring will be provided by the CGA throughout the championship, offering 9 and 18-hole updates. Live updates will also be available on the CGA’s official Twitter account, @cgagolf1909.
