Second Round Results of the NC Senior Four-Ball

MEBANE, N.C. (August 9, 2019) – Second round results of the 19th North Carolina Senior Four-Ball Championship at Mill Creek Golf Club in Mebane, N.C. on August 9, 2019.

Dave Davis of Pine Level, N.C. and Linley Tate of Greensboro, N.C. made a second round surge to take the 36-hole lead at the N.C. Senior Four-Ball Championship. The duo fired a 9-under-par, 63 in the second round to move to 13-under-par total heading into Saturday’s final round.

Hot on their heels are three N.C. Senior Four-Ball Championship winning teams all sitting at 12-under-par. The round one leaders and two-time N.C. Senior Four-Ball champions (2009, 2013), Paul Simson of Raleigh, N.C. and Don Detweiler of Raleigh, N.C., shot a 4-under-par, 68 in round two to be part of the three-way tie for second place. The defending champions, Kelly Stimart of Charlotte, N.C. and Johnny Elam of Charlotte, N.C. matched their round one score of 6-under-par, 66 in round two. Our 2017 champions, Nolan Mills III of Charlotte, N.C. and Robby Kirby of Charlotte, N.C. are also tied for second after a 5-under-par, 67 in the second round.

Only two shots off the lead are the 2006 championship winning team, Bob Desjardins of Mathews, N.C. and Bill Boles of Wilson, N.C. They shot a five-under-par, 67 on Friday to finish at 11-under-par after 36 holes.

After 36 holes, the field has been cut to the low 32 scores at 3-under-par or better. The final round will kick off Saturday morning after which our champions will be crowned.
