CGA Interclub Playoffs Update - Round 2 Complete

The playoffs are into third round of play and as of today 17 Regular and 17 Senior teams are still alive for a “Final Four” spot in their respective league.

Regular Interclub League

EAST Region – The Nos. 1, 2 and 3 seeds are still alive as we head into round three. No. 1 seed Tanglewood Park Golf Course will face the rookie team and NO. 8 seed from Duplin Country Club on October 13. Both teams will meet with full complement in Pinehurst at a neutral site for this match (Whispering Pines Country Club). The winner will face either Lonnie Poole Golf Course or the Preserve at Jordan Lake which is scheduled for September 29.

The lower half of this bracket has No. 2 seed Pinehurst Country Club No. 7&9 facing the Club from 12 Oaks. Both teams advanced last weekend following wins over Willow Springs Country Club and the past champions from Pinehurst Country Club No. 1-6 respectively. The winner will patiently wait as the No. 3 seed from Fort Bragg Golf Course and No. 19 seed from the Governors Club have a second round match to complete. Hope Valley Country Club awaits the winner of that match.

WEST Region – The top three seeds in this region are also in the hunt for a final four spot. No. 25 seed, Cramer Mountain, beat No. 24 Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation on Saturday and will face the #1 seed Cowans Ford Country Club. The veterans and past multiple champions from Rock Hill Country Club stopped the No. 1 seed, River Run Country Club, in round two and will take on the No. 12 seed of Tega Cay Grand View.

The bottom half of this region has the No. 2 seed and No. 2 team from TPC at Piper Glen matched up against Cedarwood Country Club. In addition, the No. 2 team from Highland Creek Golf Course earned a No. 3 seed at the end of the regular season and after defeating their brethren from Highland Creek Golf Course No. 1 on September 15 (37½ to 34½) will continue their quest for a final four invitation when they take on Bermuda Run Country Club this coming Sunday.

North Region – The No. 1 seed and defending champions from Tanglewood Park Golf Course will do battle with Chapel Hill Country Club on Wednesday in hopes of keeping their perfect record in tact. The winner of the Tanglewood/Chapel Hill match will know their fourth round opponent beforehand as the Crossings Golf Club from Durham (and No. 4 seed) hope to continue their winning ways tomorrow (Tuesday, September 24) when they meet another rookie team from Henderson Country Club.

Also playing on the 24th is the No. 3 seed from Carolina Trace Country Club matched up against No. 22 seed Wakefield Plantation which stopped the No. 6 seed of Bermuda Run Country Club (38 to 34) two weeks ago. The winner of this match will face the winner between Wildwood Green Golf Course and Lonnie Poole Golf Course.

South Region –After Wednesdays match this week between the No. 2 seed from Pinehurst Country Club No. 9 and Daniel Island Club No. 1 Team, all eight third round teams will be known. In the upper portion, last year’s final four participants and No. 1 seed the Links at Stoney Point will face the No. 8 seed of Pinehurst Country Club No. 7. This match has not been scheduled in TPP but the winner will take on either No. 4 seed Verdict Ridge Golf & Country Club or Northstone Country club, scheduled for October 2nd.

The winner of the Pinehurst Country Club No. 9 and Daniel Island No. 1 Team match will pair up against the seniors from Rock Hill Country Club. The other half of this bracket has the No. 3 seed from Kiawah Island Club (Cassique & River) set to meet No. 6 seed Cramer Mountain Club on the 23rd.
