2020 CGA Internship Opportunities Available

 

Five 2020 CGA Internship Positions Availble

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (December 17, 2019) - The Carolinas Golf Association announces five paid internship opportunities for 2020. New this year, the CGA will be offering a 6-12 month association internship (length of internship flexible). Additionally, two tournament operations and two tournament communications internships are available. All interns will gain exposure to various aspects of golf administration including, but not limited to: championships, qualifiers, USGA qualifiers and one-day tournaments; handicapping and course rating; communications and marketing; membership and general office administration. Interns will spend the summer traveling with CGA staff around North Carolina and South Carolina, experiencing some of the best golf courses in the country.

6-12 Month Association Internship (1 position available)
Responsibilities: Tournament administration, course marking, travel to CGA championships, qualifiers, one-day events and USGA qualifiers; tournament communications including tournament recaps, social media updates and photography; handicapping and GHIN services tasks related to the new World Handicap System; course rating and measuring; marketing and association communications. This is a traveling and in-office internship.

3-Month Tournament Operations Internship (2 positions available)
Responsibilities: Tournament administration which includes course marking, course set-up, starting times and pairings, starting and scoring of players, on-course rules officiating, pace of play and preliminary preparation of printed materials for CGA championships, qualifiers, one-day events and USGA qualifiers. This is a traveling internship with little time spent in the CGA office.

3-Month Tournament Communications Internship (2 positions available)
Responsibilities: Handle tournament communications for CGA championships, qualifiers and TYGA tournaments. Tasks include research, writing tournament recaps and other content; fact-checking, proofreading, editing, photography, videography, social media updates, contributions to the CGA magazine (print and online) and assisting with some tournament operations tasks. This is a traveling internship with little time spent in the CGA office.
Additional Qualifications: Excellent news-writing and editing skills; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; photography experience a plus; videography experience a plus; experience with photo and video editing software a plus; social media experience a plus.

 

Former CGA interns have gone on to work for the following organizations: United States Golf Association, Carolinas Golf Association, Southern California Golf Association, U.S. Kids Golf, Alabama Golf Association, LPGA Tour, Augusta National Golf Club, Clemson University, Kiawah Island Golf Resort, and more.

Cover letters and resumes should be submitted via email no later than January 24, 2020. Final employment decisions will be made by the end of February 2020. Three internships are supported by the USGA P.J. Boatwright intern program and two are funded by the CGA.
