CGA, CGF and the HV3 Foundation Partner to Support Youth on Course Carolinas

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (January 10, 2020) -- The Carolinas Golf Foundation is proud to announce an expanded partnership with the HV3 Foundation and PGA Tour member Harold Varner III to support the Youth on Course Carolinas in an effort to grow the game of golf in North Carolina and South Carolina.

“Youth on Course is such a great avenue. I’m pumped to be a part of it,” said Varner. “It’s good to know that there are other people that also want to grow the game.”

The HV3 Foundation joined the Carolinas Golf Foundation in 2019 to support Youth on Course in the Carolinas.  After seeing the growth of the two year old program, Harold and his foundation has committed to increase their support to a three year commitment that includes significant contributions to the Youth on Course Carolinas to provide discounted Youth on Course Carolinas memberships and round subsidies to participating facilities.

“This partnership is pretty significant as it brings two organizations with the same goals together.  Through Harold’s involvement, and support from the HV3 Foundation, the Carolinas Golf Foundation will be able to grow Youth on Course Carolinas membership and expand the junior participation in golf in South Carolina and North Carolina,” said Jason Cox, CGA Director of Youth Development.

In 2019, the Youth on Course Carolinas program grew from 185 members to almost 1,200 with 72 facilities. Through this partnership, the HV3 Foundation and the Carolinas Golf Foundation hope to have 2,500 members and over 100 facilities by the end of 2020.

“At the end of the day you need people that stick. You get 100 people that play golf at an early age, 50 stick. That is what it comes down to,” said Varner. “Can we do it? Most certainly, but you are not going to do it by like little band aid acts. This Youth on Course is like an attack worldwide.”

About the Carolinas Golf Foundation

The Carolinas Golf Foundation (CGF) was formed by the Carolinas Golf Association in 1977 to provide support for a variety of Carolinas-based golf initiatives. The Carolinas Golf Association and the Carolinas Golf Foundation are both 501(c)3 non-profit educational organizations. The Carolinas Golf Foundation has provided more than $1,500,000 over the last 37 years for various projects and scholarships.

Through Youth on Course, the Carolinas Golf Foundation allows kids across North and South Carolina to play golf for just $5 per round. And that’s just one of the many ways we’re passing the game on to the next generation. The CGF supports women’s golf, disabled golfers, college scholarships, turfgrass research and the historic Hall of History that captures and displays the rich golf tradition of the Carolinas.

About HV3 Foundation

The HV3 Foundation was launched in January 2019 in an effort to give back to less fortunate kids that could greatly benefit from increased access and opportunity in sport. The cost of equipment, proper coaching, and access has become very expensive and unaffordable to many.

The mission for the HV3 Foundation is to bring awareness to the rising cost of entry and access in sports. The foundation will aim to provide financial assistance for equipment, after school programs, instruction, camps, and various other avenues where an athlete can cultivate his/her passion.
