CGA announces Inaugural Carolinas Collegiate Showcase

The Carolinas Golf Association is proud to announce the Inaugural Carolinas Collegiate Showcase will be played Saturday, November 7th and Sunday, November 8th at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C.

The event will be 36 holes of stroke play contested by 140 boys and girls from North and South Carolina, who have not yet finished high school. The field will play 18 holes on Saturday utilizing a shotgun start at 10 a.m. After play, all players will be invited and encouraged to attend a Tournament Dinner at 3 p.m. at the Grandover Resort. A panel of coaches will be available beginning at 4:30 p.m. to discuss the recruiting process and any questions that the golfers or their families have. A 10 a.m. shotgun start will again be used on Sunday for the final 18 holes.

The top 150 boys and the top 75 girls in the September ‘Carolinas Junior Rankings’ will be exempt and can begin signing up on September 7th at 8 p.m. Registration will open for all other players on September 28th at 8 p.m.

“The Carolinas are very deep in junior golf talent and consistently have 40-50 juniors go on to play college golf.  This event will help better prepare them for what they will face in college golf. Most junior tournaments play a shorter and easier course set up. This event will be set at much longer distances and harder hole locations. While this will help prepare our juniors, it will also be a great tournament for college coaches to evaluate the junior talent based on college golf conditions,” said Jason Cox, Director of Junior Golf Development.

There will be no age divisions as all boys will compete in one division and all girls will compete in one division. The event will be an excellent opportunity for junior golfers to show their abilities to college coaches as the 2020 recruiting window comes to a close. The CGA anticipates a substantial number of coaches from the southeast and mid-Atlantic regions will be in attendance to scout and recruit.
