Preview: 55th Twin States Junior Girls'

 

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (June 19, 2021) -- The Carolinas Golf Association will conduct the 55th Twin States Junior Girls Championship at Cleveland Country Club in Shelby, N.C. from June 21- 22, 2021. The field will compete at 6,168 yards (par 36-37--73).

Cleveland Country Club is located in Shelby, N.C. between the mountains of Asheville and the city of Charlotte. CCC features an 18 hole championship golf course designed by John LaFoy which opened in 1927 and recently renovated the bunkering on the course. 

The Twin States Junior Girls began in 1967 and was originally run by the Women’s Carolinas Golf Association until 2007, when the tournament was transferred to the Carolinas Golf Association.

The Championship is conducted at 36 holes of stroke play in only one division. This competition includes gross scores only. Entry is open to any female amateur golfer under the age of 19 as of June 22, 2021, who has not yet started college, maintains a residence in North or South Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association and has an active GHIN® USGA Handicap Index®.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)

The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golf clubs and golfers. The CGA is the second largest golf association in the country with over 700 member clubs represented by nearly 150,000 individuals.

The CGA annually conducts 48 championships and five team match competitions for men, women, juniors, and seniors. The CGF has distributed nearly $2,000,000 since 1977 to benefit Carolinas' golf initiatives including junior and women's programs.
