The 2022 CGAcers Report


SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (January 24, 2023) -- One hundred and twenty-one (121) applications were submitted to the CGAcers Club for holes-in-one in 2022. The average distance of those reported was 140 yards.

The longest ace recorded was 253 yards by James Eatmon from Wilson, N.C. Eatmon made this incredible shot on the 15th Par 4 hole of Hedingham Golf Club in Raleigh, N.C. on August 29, 2022. The shortest ace (68 yards) was made by CGA Junior Golf Tournament Manager, Killian Casson, from Pinehurst, N.C. on December 13, 2022 on the 3rd hole of The Cradle at Pinehurst Country Club.

Jeff Wolinski from Nebo, N.C. reported two holes-in-one in within a year at his home club, Mimosa Hills Golf Club.  They were on September 26, 2021 (No. 9 – 167 yards – 6 Iron) and January 1, 2022 (No. 17 – 141 yards – 9 Iron).

A significant accomplishment was made by Camden Brown from Conway, S.C. on May 17, 2022. He was part of his High School 5A State Championship at the Charleston Municipal Golf Course when he made an Albatross using his Driver and 7 Iron on the 475 Yard, Par 5 Hole No. 15.

On August 26, 2022, Bob Babb (age 82) and Sean Lowther (age 79) of Indian Trail, N.C. both had holes-in-one on Hole No. 6 at Charlotte National Golf Course.  It was the first time Sean had shot under his age and stated “So it was my lucky day, and I went out and bought a lottery ticket!  No such luck but it was still one heck of a day to never forget.”

Ocean Ridge Plantation in Ocean Isle Beach, N.C. reported the most holes-in-one with fourteen (14).  Of those, six (6) were made on Tiger’s Eye (2 each on holes No. 6 and 17 and 1 on holes No. 2 and 11), four (4) on Leopard’s Chase (2 on hole No. 4 and 1 on holes No. 2 and 8), four (4) on Panther’s Run (2 on hole No. 2 and 1 on holes No. 6 and 11).

Wildwood Green Golf Club in Raleigh, N.C. came in second and reported thirteen (13) holes-in-one.  Of these, five (5) were made on Hole No. 4, three (3) on holes No. 6 and 12 and two (2) on Hole No. 17. Seven Lakes Golf Club in Seven Lakes, N.C. came in third reporting seven (7) for the year. Of these, five (5) were made on hole No. 5 and one on holes No. 7 and 16.

The Carolinas Golf Association is pleased to announced the winners of the 2022 CGAcer Hole-in-One Club Contest.  CGA members who submitted a hole-in-one application in 2022 and carry a USGA/CGA handicap were eligible. This year’s prizes for the annual drawing for hole-in-one winners include:

  • 1st Place – “Golf in the Carolinas” book, CGF Tervis mug, CGA hat, knit hat, valuables pouch, club head cover, playing cards, ball markers, sticker, magnet and pen. 
  • 2nd Place – “Golf in the Carolinas” book, CGF Tervis mug, CGA hat, knit hat, club head cover, playing cards, ball markers, sticker, magnet and pen.
  • 3rd Place – “Golf in the Carolinas” book, CGA hat, knit hat, club head cover, playing cards, ball markers, sticker, magnet and pen.

The 2022 CGAcer winners are:

  • 1st – Maurice Sherman of Simpsonville, S.C. (Member of Carolina Springs Golf Club)
  • 2ndJeff Wolinski of Nebo, NC. (Member of Mimosa Hills Golf Club)
  • 3rd James Faulkner of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C. (Member of Ocean Ridge Plantation)


Join the fun!  If you are a CGA member who makes a hole-in-one in 2023, let us know.

The CGA will be awarding prizes again for 2023. The random drawing will take place on or before January 30, 2024. All hole-in-one forms must be received at the CGA office no later than January 15, 2024.  The CGAcer hole-in-one form is available on our website and must be completed and submitted for eligibility.  The hole-in-one must be scored from January 1 through December 31, 2023. Your name will be entered for EACH hole-in-one made in 2023.  You must be a current CGA member and carry a USGA/CGA handicap to be eligible. CGA Staff, Executive Committee members, and their families are ineligible. Prizes will change annually.

The CGAcers Hole-in-One program is one of many services offered by the Carolinas Golf Association.
