JEFFERSON, N.C. - Walker Isley of Oak Island, N.C., took home the 63rd North Carolina Amateur Championship title on Sunday afternoon. Isley led the tourney wire-to-wire after shooting three-under-par, 64-71-74-72, as he captured his first CGA amateur championship title.

Through the first two rounds, Isley led all-scorers after shooting a 135 over 36 holes (64-71), putting him seven-under-par to enter the weekend. After the third round, Samuel Mace of Connelly Springs, N.C. shot a 70 (-1) to share the lead with Isley heading into the final round.

After some back-and-forth lead changes, Winston-Salem, N.C. native, Davis Womble birdied No. 16 to share possession of first with Isley. After a clutch putt on seventeen by Isley, the two were even entering the final hole. Ultimately, after a brilliant approach to two feet, Isley's birdie on the final hole sealed the victory in front of a large and animated crowd on hand.

"I knew that I always had a chance even when I did make the double and then the bogey. I kind of hung in there," said Isley. "This win means a lot to me."

Finishing in second with Womble was Sam Davidson of Asheboro at one-under-par. Davidson shot a 69 (-3) on the final round, the lowest of all-scorers. Davidson made six birdies and four bogies on his card for the day.

The Carolinas Golf Association would like to thank the members and staff at Jefferson Landing Golf Club, especially, Director of Golf, Dan Stepnicka, Superintendent Rob Wilson, Director or Membership Amanda Gambill, Director of Food and Beverage Kelsey Church, and the Vannoy family for graciously hosting the 63rd North Carolina Amateur Championship.
