ARCHDALE, N.C (July 23, 2025) — The 18th Carolinas Girls’ 15 & Under Championship concluded in dramatic fashion as Kennedy Gallentine of Iron Station, N.C., won her first CGA title with an eagle on the first playoff hole at Holly Ridge Golf Links in Archdale, N.C.

Gallentine and Minyan Ou of Shelby, N.C. finished regulation play tied at 2-over 146, creating up a sudden-death playoff to determine the champion. Gallentine made the most of her second trip down the 18th hole, sinking an eagle putt to seal the win. Her performance capped off two rounds of consistent and focused play. Notably, during regulation play of her final round, Gallentine’s eagle attempt on No. 18 narrowly missed, hitting the flagstick and lipping out.

“It was difficult to judge the greens,” Gallentine said after her win. “After a while though, I got used to it and I just played it, and played it really, really well.”

Ou, who led after the first round with an impressive 2-under-par 70, was the only player in the entire championship field to post a round under par. Her consistent ball contact and short game set the pace early, and despite a second-round 76, she remained in contention until the final putt. Her first round score stood as the tournament’s best individual performance. Gallentine opened with an even-par 72 on Day 1 and was trailing by two strokes heading into the final round. The two separated themselves from the rest of the field by seven shots, as third-place finisher Riley Adkins of Greensboro, N.C., finished with a total of 9-over 153 after rounds of 77 and 76.

In the Junior Division, Minlin Ou of Shelby, N.C. took the title with rounds of 71 and 78 for a 5-over 149 total. In the Sub-Junior Division, Paris Chen of Charlotte, N.C. claimed first place with rounds of 41-41 (82).

The Carolinas Golf Association extends its appreciation to the staff and membership of Holly Ridge Golf Links for their support and hospitality throughout the week. Special thanks to Head Golf Professional Robert Faub, General Manager Nick Cromer, and Superintendent James Claybrook for helping host the 18th Carolinas Jr. Girls’ 15U Championship.
