KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (August 18, 2025) – After two days of the Carolinas Mixed Team Championship, two overall champion teams were crowned, both after an exciting playoff finish. In the Championship Division, it was Reece Hart of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Joseph Cansler of Clemmons, N.C. who won on their third playoff hole with a par against Davis and Tina Morrison of Raleigh, N.C., after both teams finished regulation play with a total score of 11-under 133 total. In the Senior Division, after finishing regulation play in a tie at 5-under 139 total, David League of Travelers Rest, S.C., and Pam Prescott of Piedmont, S.C., won their playoff on the first hole with a birdie after Pam drove the 18th green at Kiawah Island Golf Resort's Oak Point Golf Course.
The Championship Division
In the second round, playing Modified Alternate Shot, Davis and Tina Morrison battled it out, staying tied most of the second round with Emily Rapp of Charleston, S.C., and Jeremy Moore of Mount Pleasant, S.C. However, it was the bogey-free play from Reece Hart and Joseph Cansler that pushed them ahead in the last three holes with a birdie on No. 16 to tie the Morrison and Rapp/Moore teams. Going into the final hole, the Morrison team and the Hart/Cansler team were tied. Both teams made par on the 18th hole which forced a playoff on the same hole.
In the first and second playoff holes on 18, both teams made par, which took them back to play the 18th for a third time. This time, a par was enough for Hart and Cansler to be victorious over the Morrison team. Hart said after her round, “Yeah, playoffs always get the nerves going… but we decided that I’d hit the drives, and he’d [Joseph] hit the wedge shots up and just try to make a lot of pars.” Both teammates are very excited about their win and “we’re very happy about [a score of] 66 while playing alternate shot,” Cansler said after his round.
The Senior Division
Pam Prescott and David League took home the trophy after a playoff on the 18th hole against Lea Anne Brown and Mark Hoover of Mount Pleasant, S.C., after going 5-under after two days. Their Four Ball score from round one was a 7-under 65 while their Modified Alternate Shot score was a 2-over 74.
The Super Senior Division
Jerry and Karen Sennett of Stanley, N.C., won in the Super Senior Division with a score of 3-over 147 total, shooting 3-under 69 in the Four Ball and 6-over 78 in the Modified Alternate Shot round.
The Tournament Division
Dave Bayko of Fort Mill, S.C., and Claire Labaj of Clover, S.C., won with a two-round score of -2 142 total, shooting a 1-under 71 in both the Four Ball and the Modified Alternate Shot rounds.
