Cloninger & Teaster Capture the 14th Carolinas Super Senior Four-Ball

 

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Sept. 24, 2025) – The side of Tim Teaster (Cayce, S.C.) and Rick Cloninger (Rock Hill, S.C.) rallied on the final day to win the 14th Carolinas Super Senior Four-Ball Championship (65+ Division) at the Country Club of Spartanburg in Spartanburg, S.C. The duo teamed up two win this championship in 2023.

Cloninger and Teaster carded rounds of 67–64 for a 13-under-par total of 131, finishing two strokes clear of the field. Their closing 64 was the lowest round of the championship in the 65+ bracket and sealed the first-place prize.

Finishing runner-up at 11-under 133 was the side of Todd Hendley (Columbus, N.C.) and Walter Todd (Laurens, S.C.), who posted consistent rounds of 66–67.

A three-way tie for third place came at 9-under 135:

  • Dale Fuller (Raleigh, N.C.) and Steve Sharpe (Greensboro, N.C.) (66–69)

  • Jim Grainger (Charlotte, N.C.) and John Rudolph (Charlotte, N.C.) (66–69)

  • Julian Taylor (Greenville, S.C.) and Randall Sullins (Claremont, N.C.) (65–70)

  • Bobby Hines (Greer, S.C.) and Jose Alvarez (Greenville, S.C.) (66–69)


Detweiler & Simson Dominate 70+ Division

In the 70+ Division, the side of Donald Detweiler (Raleigh, N.C.) and Paul Simson (Raleigh, N.C.) defended their title while capturing their 14th CGA title as a duo. They fired rounds of 64–66 for a 14-under-par total of 130, winning by four strokes.

The side of Dennis Helms (North Myrtle Beach, S.C.) and John Long (Murrells Inlet, S.C.) claimed second place with rounds of 66–68 for 10-under 134.

Two sides shared third place at 7-under 137:

  • Byron Beck (Martin, S.C.) and Tom Randall (Bishopville, S.C.) (68–69)

  • Tim Pope (Spartanburg, S.C.) and Roger Page (Duncan, S.C.) (68–69)
