Event: 4th Carolinas Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship

RALEIGH, N.C. – Twelve mid-amateur women competed under ideal September conditions at Brier Creek Country Club, with Sophia Martone of Holly Springs, N.C., emerging victorious to claim the 4th Carolinas Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship.

Martone entered the final round tied for the lead with Megan Baburek of Chapel Hill, N.C., after both players carded opening rounds of 4-over-par 76. With the championship within reach, Martone delivered a steady final-round performance, carding a 1-over-par 73 to finish at 5-over-par 149 and secure the title by one stroke.

Alisa White of Southern Pines, N.C., made the biggest move up the leaderboard in the final round. White climbed four spots after firing an even-par 72, the low round of the championship, to finish at 6-over-par 150 and earn runner-up honors.

Colleen Shepard of Charlotte, N.C., also finished at 6-over-par 150 after carding a 1-over-par 73 in the final round. Shepard finished third on the leaderboard.
