Camden, SC-After 54 holes of challenging golf at Camden Country Club in Camden, SC, there was still no definitive winner of the 65^th Carolinas Junior Boys’ Championship. Round two leader, Henry Shimp of Charlotte, NC, shot a third round 75 tying him with Andrew Wilmoth of Raleigh, NC thus leaving championship to be decided in a playoff. Shimp, who bogeyed the 18^th hole in regulation, had the mental toughness to go back his “least favorite tee shot on the course,” and find the fairway.  He then went on from there to make par, while Wilmoth struggled to get up and down from front of the green making a bogey five giving the championship to Shimp. “This is my biggest win so far,” declared the young 17 year old rising junior at Myers Park High School in Charlotte, NC.  The newly crowned champion emotionally thanked his grandparents, mother, friends, high school coach and fellow competitors for their support.
 Shimp and Wilmoth have been invited to represent the Carolinas in the Carolinas-Virginias Junior Team Matches.  Aaron Walker of Charlotte, NC finished in solo third for the championship with a total score of 216, a mere two shots behind the leaders. Walkers’ third place finish will also grant him an invitation to the team matches. Justin Hood of Saint Matthews, SC and Nolan Mills of Charlotte, NC finished tied for fourth.

We would also like to thank the members at Camden Country Club for their generosity and continued support of junior golf in the Carolinas.
