8 Teams Remain at Carolinas Four-Ball

CAMDEN, S.C. – Rounds of 16 and 32 match play results of the 64th Carolinas Four-Ball Championship hosted by Camden Country Club in Camden, S.C. on Friday, May 8, 2015 (6455 yards, par 35-35—70, 71.6/128).

Zachary Martin - John Grimes of Pinehurst, N.C. are the highest remaining seed in the championship. The #2 seed defeated #31 seed Matthew Glowacki - Austin Childers, 5 and 4, in the round of 32 then beat Bryan Newton - Bret Boulware, 3 and 2, in the afternoon round of 16.

Stroke play qualifying medalist Taylor Ingle - Brandon Truesdale of Winnsboro, S.C. advanced to the round of 16 but was defeated 1 up by Matthew Laydon of Charleston, S.C. – J. D. Hoft of Bluffton, S.C.

Match of the day pitted Nolan Mills IV - Nolan Mills of Charlotte, N.C. versus Tommy Hurst of Camden, S.C. - Ryan Wilkinson of Galivants Ferry, S.C. in the round of 32. It took 26 holes and over 6 hours of golf before Nolan Mills IV sank a short birdie putt to advance the father-son team into the round of 16. However after that marathon match, the Mills team faced hot playing 2013 champion Paul Tucker of Waxhaw, N.C.-Brent Roof of Columbia, S.C. which cruised to a 7 and 6 win.

The quarterfinal matches are set to begin at 8:00am at Camden Country Club on Saturday morning.

The Carolinas Four-Ball Championship is open to any male amateur golfer who has reached his 13th birthday by the first day of the championship, is a resident of North Carolina or South Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association and has an active USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)

The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golf clubs and golfers.
