After avoiding bogeys in the first round, defending champion Henry Shimp of Charlotte, N.C. followed-up his 67 with a four bogey, three birdie performance. The 17-year-old's two-day total of four-under 140 is enough for a share of the lead heading into Thursday's final round.

Tied with Shimp is 15-year-old AJ Beechler of Pinehurst, N.C. In both of his rounds the rising sophomore converted four birdies. The difference on Wednesday was that Beechler made just one bogey, compared to three Tuesday.

Three players are one shot back: Blake Taylor of Atkinson, N.C., Nicholas Lyerly of Salisbury, N.C., and Patrick Golden of Murrells Inlet, S.C.

The round of the day was posted by rising junior Reed Bentley of Wellford, SC. "I hope I break 90 today," Bentley said prior to his round. "I swing hard and either hit it 300 yards down the middle or 300 yards out of bounds." Bentley produced six birdies to just one bogey on Wednesday, improving ten shots on his opening round 77. His two-day total of even par 144 puts him in a tie for tenth.

The 36-hole cut line fell at six-over-par 150 for the low 60 and ties. 62 players will play the final round Thursday beginning at 8am from the 1st and 10th tees.

Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has not reached his 19th birthday by July 30, 2015, who has not started college, is a legal resident of North Carolina or South Carolina, is a member or their parent is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has a current USGA handicap index® at a CGA member club that does not exceed 18.4.
