In last year's inaugural championship, the Pinehurst Scramblers, representing Courses 1-6, claimed victory. This year, a team representing Course No. 9 at Pinehurst Country Club will have the opportunity to add a second consecutive Carolinas Senior Interclub title to the club's trophy case. On Wednesday, two of their four-ball sides each earned five points, while the duo of James Cole and Ernie Ferrell claimed all six of the points available in their match to defeat Governors Club of Chapel Hill, N.C., 17-7.

Another Pinehurst Country Club team, representing the Men's Golf Association, had a chance to make it an all Pinehurst Country Club final. However, they lost a close battle with Verdict Ridge Golf & Country Club of Denver, N.C. In the final four-ball match, Scott Powers and Gary Downing took all six points to edge Pinehurst MGA by a 13-11 margin. Verdict Ridge will look to avenge their runner-up finish in last year's Regular Interclub Season.

The championship match of the 2nd Carolinas Senior Interclub Season will begin Thursday at 8:30 a.m. from the first tee of the Magnolia Course. Four matches of four-ball competition will tee off in ten-minute intervals. The winning team will hoist the Thomas J. Thorpe trophy, named for the CGA Executive Committee member instrumental in the administration of the Carolinas Interclub seasons.
