U.S. Senior Women's Open Qualifying Results
from Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C.


SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (June 6, 2018) -- Final results from U.S. Senior Women's Open Qualifying at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C. on June 6, 2018 (5763 yards, par 35-36--71, Course/Slope rating: 71.6/123).

Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club hosted an inaugural U.S. Women's Open qualifier one year prior to their hosting of the championship proper in May of 2019. Suzy Green-Roebuck, a professional from Ann Arbor, M.I. fired a 2-under-par 69 and took home medalist honors. Green-Roebuck was the only player to finish under par in the qualifier and she carded five birdies on the day. Sally Austin, a professional out of Chapel Hill, N.C. was the second qualifier after a round of 5-over-par 76. Luanne Cherney, a professional from Orlando, F.L. finished with a 79 and is the first alternate. In a four-way playoff for second and third alternate, Kim Briele of New Bern, N.C. made birdie on the first playoff hole to secure the second alternate position. Angela Stewart of Greenville, N.C. claimed the third alternate position. Briele, Stewart and Beatriz Arenas claimed low amateur honors.

Two qualifying spots and three alternate positions were available at this qualifying site.

Sectional qualifying is conducted over 18 holes at 17 locations around the country. The championship proper will be held at Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, Ill. on July 12-15, 2018.

This qualifier was conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association on behalf of the United States Golf Association.

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)

The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golf clubs and golfers.
