Get To Know The 2019 CGA Interns: Kyle Edwards

Kyle Edwards - CGA Operations Intern (Chapel Hill, NC)

Hi there! My name is Kyle Edwards, and I am a junior at North Carolina State University majoring in Sport Management. I have worked in many different sport areas such as game day operations for USA Baseball in Cary, guest services at Chapel Ridge Golf Club in Pittsboro, and have even coached high school basketball and soccer.

An interesting fact about myself is that I grew up in California, then moved to Florida when I was about 8 or 9, and then moved here to North Carolina when I was about 12. When I tell people that I am a Golden State Warriors fan, people always assume that I am a bandwagon fan, when in reality I grew up not far from the arena they play at, and I used to go to a lot of games when they were not that good. I have also been playing golf ever since I could walk, and I enjoy playing with my dad on our annual Father-Son golf trips down to the Southern Pines area.

  • Career Goals: Tournament operations or golf club management

  • Goals for this summer:

    • One of my goals is to learn more about tournament operations and what goes on behind the scenes. I enjoy putting in the work to make the experiences of the paying customer worthwhile so that they have a desire to come back time and time again.

    • Another goal that I have for this summer’s internship is to network and connect with people that I am working with and other people that I happen to meet at different tournaments.

    • Throughout my life I have realized the importance of connecting with people. Even though my natural personality leans a bit introverted, my goal is to become more outgoing and be comfortable being a little uncomfortable in my surroundings – I think this internship will offer me the opportunity to grow.

    • My final goal for this summer’s internship is being able to take leadership while also being team-oriented. CGA appears to have this persona of making sure that everyone works together to achieve a common goal, and I feel that my experience has led me to become a great team player, but that does not mean that I should shy away from stepping out of my comfort zone to take charge of a situation and demonstrate that I can become a leader around my co-workers.

  • Hobbies: Playing basketball, soccer, and golf; spending time with friends, watching movies

  • Enjoy playing golf? I love to play golf any chance that I can get.
