And, once again, The Walker Course at Clemson University in Clemson, S.C. came in second reporting eight (8) holes-in-one made in 2019. Of those, six (6) were made on the 17th hole.

Sharing close third are Seven Lakes Golf Club in West End, N.C. and Ocean Ridge Plantation in Ocean Isle Beach, N.C. each with seven (7) reported 2019 holes-in-one. The breakdown of holes-in-one made at the various Ocean Ridge Plantation courses is Leopard’s Chase (1), Lion’s Paw (1), Panther’s Run (2), and Tiger’s Eye (3).

Players reporting of the significant accomplishment of two holes-in-one in a calendar year was down from five (5) in 2018 to three (3) in 2019. Artis Payton of Fayetteville, N.C. reported holes-in-one at Ryder Golf Course (No.5-174 yards-8 Iron) and Stryker Golf Course (No.5-145 yards-pitching wedge). Donald Tedder of Wilmington, N.C. reported holes-in-one at Country Club of Landfall’s Ocean Course (No.4-117 yards-50-degree wedge) and Dye Course (No.2-137 yards-pitching wedge). Bill Toole of Raleigh, N.C. reported two holes-in-one, both at Wildwood Green Golf Club (No.12-158 yards-8 Iron) and (No.17-122 yards-sand wedge).

October 2019 was a lucky month for the Liggetts of Spartanburg, S.C. On October 11, at the Carolina Country Club, Cathy Liggett made the fourth hole-in-one since she started playing the game (No.15-118 yards–6 Hybrid). Understandably, Cathy and her friends were very excited to tell her husband, Jim Liggett, about it. According to Jim, “That was because I had yet to ever have one.” The next morning, October 12, Jim was on the driving range at Carolina Country Club. He exclaimed to his friends, “If Cathy got one more ace prior to me getting one I would quit golf!!!” Later that morning on No.8, Jim got his first ace! He recalls that he was “so excited I couldn’t contain myself running around the tee box like a little kid”. We are so happy that Jim doesn’t have to “quit golf” after all! Congratulations, Cathy and Jim!
