MERRY HILL, N.C. (August 1, 2027) – Carolina Wynns of Lillington, N.C. completed an unbeaten run through the 22nd Dogwood State Junior Girls' Match Play Championship, defeating Baker Hudson 2&1 in Wednesday's championship match at Occano Golf & Boat Club.

The victory capped a commanding week for Wynns, who won all three of her pod play matches before defeating McKenzie Mueller 5&4 in the semifinals to earn a spot in the championship.

Wynns established herself as one of the tournament favorites early, sweeping Group 2 with victories over Sophia Cortes, Hollie Lewis and Kate Grantham. She cruised to a 9&8 win over Cortes before earning consecutive 2&1 victories over Lewis and Grantham. Throughout pod play, Wynns never found herself trailing by more than one hole and was never 2-down in any match, consistently taking early control and forcing her opponents to play catch-up.

In the championship match against top-seeded Baker Hudson, Wynns once again seized the momentum early. After halving the opening hole, she won Nos. 2, 4 and 5 to build a 2-up advantage. Hudson briefly cut the deficit to one after winning the seventh, but Wynns responded by claiming the eighth to restore her two-hole lead at the turn.

The back nine followed a similar pattern. Hudson trimmed the lead to one on the 11th, but Wynns answered immediately, winning the 12th and 13th to regain a two-hole cushion. She maintained that advantage through the closing stretch, halving the final four holes before securing the championship with a 2&1 victory.

The title completes an impressive week in which Wynns won all five of her matches, combining steady play with timely responses whenever her opponents threatened to make a charge.
