Warner, Rosado Win Mimosa Hills Junior Invitational in Playoffs

MORGANTON, N.C. – Both champions of the 7th Mimosa Hills Junior Invitational needed extra holes to secure victories, as Tyler Warner of Marvin, N.C., and Adelyn Rosado of Cary, N.C., captured their respective titles in playoffs at Mimosa Hills Golf Club in Morganton, N.C.

Warner and Rosado each entered the final round trailing the lead before making their moves on Sunday. Warner closed with a 3-under-par 67 to reach 10-under for the championship, while Rosado carded a 2-over 72 to finish at 1-over. Both ultimately prevailed on the first playoff hole.

 

Boys' Championship

Warner began the final round one stroke off the pace before firing a 3-under 67 to force a playoff with Hudson Hurt of Raleigh, N.C.

Warner and Hurt entered Sunday tied at 7-under after matching opening rounds of 63. Both followed with rounds of 67 to finish the 36-hole championship at 10-under-par 130 and send the Boys' Championship to extra holes.

Warner prevailed on the first playoff hole to capture the title.

One shot behind the playoff were Bodie Snyder of Holly Springs, N.C., and Camden Honeycutt of Salisbury, N.C., who tied for third at 9-under 131. Snyder posted rounds of 64 and 67, while Honeycutt followed an opening-round 62 with a 69 on Sunday.

Isaiah Adel of Raleigh, N.C., rounded out the top five at 8-under 132 following rounds of 65 and 67.

 

Girls' Championship

The Girls' Championship also required extra holes, with Rosado and Natalia Henderson of Southern Pines, N.C., finishing 36 holes tied at 1-over-par 145.

Rosado began the final round two strokes behind the lead after opening with a 73. She followed with a 72 on Sunday to move into the clubhouse at 1-over. Henderson made an even bigger move up the leaderboard, firing a final-round 71 after opening with a 74.

Rosado secured the championship on the first playoff hole.

First-round leader Hallie Anne Winters of Gastonia, N.C., finished one stroke outside the playoff in third at 2-over 146 after rounds of 69 and 77. Sloan McKinney of Denver, N.C., finished fourth at 4-over 148.

Three players tied for fifth at 5-over-par 149. Mckenzie Mueller of Wake Forest, N.C., posted rounds of 76 and 73, Minlin Ou of Shelby, N.C., carded rounds of 77 and 72, and Natalie Hennessey of Charlotte, N.C., finished with rounds of 74 and 75.
