Fiest shots second round 66; Takes a two shot lead into final round of Carolinas Junior

Blake Fiest of Huntersville, NC shot a second round 66 on the Willow Creek course at High Point CC in High Point, NC and takes a two shot lead heading into the final round of the 64th Carolinas Junior Boys’ Championship. Fiest, a rising high school junior, birdied the second hole and stood one under par after five holes. He then birdied the next five holes to reach six under par after 10 holes. Two more birdies along with two bogeys on the back nine gave him a two day total of six under par 138. 2011 Carolinas Junior champion Will Long of Gastonia, NC is two shots back at four under 140 after his second round 71. Four shots back at two under par 142 are Doc Redman of Raleigh, NC and first round leader Trevor Phillips of Inman, SC. 

The field was reduced to the top 60 and ties after the second round. All players who shot 154 or better advance to Thursday’s final round. Starting times (listed below) on Thursday begin at 8 am off #1 and #10 tees. 

This annual junior championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
