John and Celeste Rudolph of Charlotte, N.C. fired a 5-under – 65 to take the lead over seven time Carolinas Mixed Team Champions Anthony and Debbie Adams of Asheville, N.C. and Aubrie Street of Greenville, S.C. and Michael Borton of Winston-Salem, N.C. The Rudolph duo carded 4 birdies and one eagle. Heather Hancock of Siler City, N.C. had her first ever hole-in-one on the par 3-ninth. Mark and Kim Young of Lillington, N.C. lead the Senior division by one shot while Charley Gibbs and Teddy Stockwell of Charleston, S.C. lead the Super Senior division. Players were placed into flights prior to the first round using a special formula of the total team handicap index.
