Carolinas Pros Retain Tar Heel Cup in Tied 2024 Event
WALLACE, N.C. (April 9, 2024) – The 29th Tar Heel Cup Matches, presented by Holderness & Bourne, took place at River Landing Country Club’s Landing Course in Wallace, N.C.
The Tar Heel Cup Matches are an annual friendly event between the top eight PGA Professionals and the top eight amateur golfers in North Carolina.
The Tar Heel Cup format consists of one day of Four-Ball matches and one day of Singles matches, with one point awarded to the winner of each match. It requires 6 1/2 points to win the Cup. As the defending champions, the NC Professionals only needed 6 points to retain the title, and that’s just what they did. The final results saw both squads acquire 6 points each of the available 12. The amateurs did, however, win the single matches 3.5 points to 2.5.
