WALLACE, N.C. – Four clubs from three divisions—Carolinas, Senior and Super Senior—competed in the interclub semifinals on Wednesday, and Championship matches were held on Thursday at River Landing Golf Club.

The interclub regular season runs from March until July, and the playoffs begin in August with the top 64 teams in each division.

Each team consists of eight players who participate in net Four-Ball matches worth 20 points. 40.5 points are needed to win an interclub match.

Wildwood Green Golf Club claims 28th Carolinas Interclub title

Wildwood Green GC faced Statesville Country Club in the Carolinas division championship. After Statesville won its first two matches, Wildwood Green crafted a comeback that led all the way to the 18th hole of its fourth match. The sides tied, resulting in a 40-40 tie and initiating a playoff.

The playoff was held on No. 10, a par-3 over water with a large bunker in front of the green. All four players found the green, but both of Statesville’s shots were closer.

The first putt by Wildwood Green rolled just past the hole, but their second from over 20 feet was good for birdie. Statesville missed both their birdie chances, and Wildwood Green GC’s Dogwood Team captured the Interclub Championship.

Highland Country Club captures 10th Carolinas Senior Interclub title

Highland Country Club faced The Peninsula Club in the senior division. Highland took an early lead in all four of its matches and held that lead all the way through. Highland defeated The Peninsula Club 50.5-29.9 in the biggest victory in both rounds.

Southern Pines Golf Club wins 3rd Carolinas Super Senior Interclub Title

Southern Pines GC faced River Run Golf Club in the super senior division. In one of the closest matchups of the final four, two matches tied between Southern Pines and River Run. The teams split the other two matches, and Southern Pines’s win pushed it to a 41.5-38.5 victory.

The Carolinas Golf Association would like to thank the staff of River Landing Golf Club for their hospitality and hosting a fantastic championship atmosphere.
