(Complete match results and player gross scores can be accessed by clicking on the: Regions & Divisions or Schedule & Results section)

▪ The Interclub is entering its final month of regular season play starting this week-end. There are 55 matches yet to be played before the playoffs begin in September. 7 teams have earned playoff spots as of last week-ends results. They are highlighted in the "Standings" section. Note: There are 17 groups (12 four team groups, 2 six team groups, and 3 three team groups) for a total of 33 automatic playoff spots. 2 teams from each 4 team group, 3 teams from each 6 team group and 1 team from a three team group will qualify an automatic playoff spot. Play-in spots are minimal this year due to the size of the league but will be considered based on best records.

▪ The Creek GA ("M") leads the league with a 5 & 0 record and 15 group points. Four teams (River Run CC#1, Maple Chase, Raintree CC#2 and Tanglewood are close behind with 4 wins each and 12 group points.                                             Group "K" (Anderson Creek, Coharie, Pine Hollow and River Ridge) are deadlocked at 2 wins and 2 losses each following last week-ends results. Accumulated match points will be used to break ties necessary in determining playoff invitations.

▪ NOTE: regardless of a teams record and to maintain the integrity of the standings for matches played, please make every effort to compete in a scheduled match. It's better to play with a minimum of 6 players rather than offer a forfeit to your opponents!

With the big team match still up for grabs, and Cabarrus needing 1 point for the win, Hopkins and Troutman won 2 of the final 3 points to secure the road win. Both clubs are tied for the second playoff spot which will be determined on August 10 when Providence travels to Cabarrus.

GROUP "B"

Club @ Longview (7) @ River Run G & CC #2 (11)  - The #2 team for River Run moved into first place in the "B" group with this win and hopes of joining their #1 team (group "A") in the playoffs. But there are eight matches remaining in the group and all four teams are in contention. In this match, Longview was going for their 2nd win in as many matches. In this match, the home team grabbed the early lead they would not relenquish as Roger O'Connell and Steve Harwell led off with a 3 point win. GROUP "F"

Emerald Lake GC (4) @ Tega Cay GC (14)  - Tega Cay improved their playoff hopes with this 10 point win over Emerald Lake. Four Tega Cay teams (Hall/Byerly, Irvin/Hayes, Taylor/Phillips and Taylor/Cunningham) won all three match points to lead the home club. While Fort Mill leads the group with 9 group points, all four clubs are still in contention for one of two playoff spots with a total of 5 matches remaining the group.

GROUP "G"

Chapel Hill CC (6) @ Forest Oaks CC (12)  - Forest Oaks CC kept their playoff hopes alive mathematically following this 6 point win over the visiting team from Chapel Hill CC. Three FOCC teams (Long/Marion, Sartin/Helms and Marion/Brinkley) contributed 2.5 points each to lead this southwest Greensboro club and has 2 matches remaining with group leaders Mill Creek and Umstead Pines. Chapel Hill dropped to 2 and 3 and has a match remaining with Mill Creek. If FOCC and CHCC win their remaining matches, there will be a four way tie in the group with the tie breaker (based on the accumulation of match points) determining the two playoff spots.

Umstead Pines (7) @ Chapel Hill CC (11)  - Following a road loss the day before at Forest Oaks, Chapel Hill bounced back on Sunday with an important home win over Umstead Pines. Henry Essey and Gary Buck led CHCC with a 3 point sweep while three other CHCC pairings added 2 match points each. Scott Ellis and Wayne Ball won two matches and halved the other to lead Umstead Pines. If the stars align in August in favor of Chapel Hill and Forest Oaks, this group could end up in a four way tie with 3 and 3 records each.

GROUP "H"

Club at 12 Oaks (7.5) @ Preserve @ Jordan Lake (10.5)  - Even at 1-2-1, the Preserve at Jordan Lake still has a chance to make the playoffs following this home win over the Club at 12 Oaks. Teammates Justin Malone with John Adams and Darrin Williams with Allen Roth assisted with a 2 to 1 wins. 12 Oaks was led by the combos of Tim Driver/Alex Brennan and David Draper/Jay Schelin with 2 points each. Brad Stites and Mitch Twiddy led Hasentree with a 2 point win. With three remaining matches involving all four teams, both Prestonwood CC at 2 and 3 and Pinehurst CC #1-6 at 1 win and 3 losses have mathematical chances to secure one of two playoff spots.

GROUP "J"

GROUP "L"

Falls Village GC (6.5) @ Willow Springs CC (11.5)  - Willow Springs CC evened their record at 2 and 2 with this home win over Falls Village of Durham and tightened the playoff race for all four group "L" teams. WCC teams Troy Haynes w/ Chance Cox, Brent Landen w/ Danny Brite and Scott Hill w/ Jerry Barnes led the team with 3 match point wins each. Rob Donnelly and Dave Sherrow led Falls Village with a sweep of their own. The three remaining August matches involving all four teams have equal importance to determine who plays in September.

GROUP "M"

Monroe CC (3.5) @ River Hills CC (14.5)  - River Hills CC improved to 4 and 1 and second place in this six team group following this win. Three teams (Paul Thomas/Harold Fisher, Joe Lyons/Brandon McGee and Martin & Carlos Salas) led River Hills in this Sunday match. Monroe stands at 3 and 2 with one important match remaining at Larkhaven. The Creek GA has secured a playoff spot with a 5 and 0 record leaving two playoff spots available.

GROUP "N"

Stoney Creek GC (??) @ Oak Valley CC (??)  -  No RESULTS Posted for match scheduled Sunday 7/27.

GROUP "O"

Links at Stoney Point (2) @ Members Club @ Woodcreek (16)  - The Members Club at Woodcreek leads this group by one win (3 group points) following this lopsided win at home. The first five pairings swept all three matches with the final pairing adding an individual win. Butch Pate and Kevin Cullens prevented a total sweep by winning their four-ball and one individual point (Pate) for Stoney Point. All three teams in this group (including the Golf Club at Cedar Creek in Aiken) have one remaining match each that could end in a three way tie for a playoff spot. Looks like another tie-breaker opportunity.

GROUP "P"

no matches scheduled

GROUP "Q"

Mountain Aire GC (4) @ New River CC (14) & New River CC (12) @ Cedarbrook CC (6)  -  New River CC made it 2 for 2 last week-end following a home win on Saturday and a short road trip to State Road (near Elkin) on Sunday. In Saturdays match with Mountaine Aire, all six New River pairings contributed. In a rare feat, the final pairing (Oscar Reeves & AJ Todd for New River vs John Vodenicker & Steven Hardin from MAGC) halved all three matches for 1.5 points each. On Sunday, Cedarbrook CC hosted and came within 3 match points of a tie until New Rivers Wayne Miles and AJ Todd swept the final three points for a six point win. These were the first matches for this three team group and although New River and Mountain Aire are sporting 1 loss each, they still have a chance to win the groups playoff spot.
