Carolinas Interclub Championship Playoff Bracket Announced
CAROLINAS INTERCLUB CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYOFF BRACKET ANNOUNCED
WEST END, N.C. – The Carolinas Golf Association has announced a record 40 team bracket for this year's CGA Interclub Championship playoffs. Along with this year’s 33 automatic qualifiers, the Championship committee rewarded 7 other clubs with a .500 won/loss record a playoff invitation based on group play.
This is the 17th CGA Interclub season that began match play in April with 69 teams competing in both home and away matches within their respective group. Teams that finished 1st, 2nd and in some cases 3rd within their group qualified automatically for the playoffs.
This year’s field includes the defending 2013 champions from Fort Mill GC (Fort Mill, SC) along with prior champions; Coharie CC (Clinton, NC), River Hills CC (Lake Wylie, SC), River Run CC (Davidson, NC) and Rock Hill CC (Rock Hill, SC). Five clubs competing in the Interclub for the first time also made the playoffs: the Club at 12 Oaks (Holly Springs, NC), Emerald Lake GC (Matthews, NC), Gates Four GC (Fayetteville, NC), Hasentree GC (Raleigh, NC) and Highland CC (Fayetteville, NC).
Interclub playoff matches are single elimination with 12 players on each team competing for 18 match points. The playoff format (excluding the finals) involves 6 players from each club playing at home and on the opponent’s course simultaneously. Ties are broken by a sudden-death play-off at both courses simultaneously.
The Interclub Finals will feature the final two teams that will compete over two days at the Mid Pines Golf Club in Southern Pines, NC on November 22-23. Four-ball matches will be held on Saturday, November 22 followed by singles matches on Sunday, November 23.
