Hardee-Novak in SC Am Match Play Final

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. -- Quarterfinal and Semifinal match play results of the 43rd South Carolina Amateur Match Play Championship at The Windermere Club in Blythewood on Saturday, June 20 (Par 35-36--71, 6661 yards, Course Rating: 72.3/135).

Quarterfinal Re-Cap

The Cinderella run for the two lowest remaining seeds came to an end in the quarterfinals. Jake Smith of Duncan (32 seed) and Charles Dallery of Sumter (31 seed) each lost to a Wofford Terrier team member with Smith falling to Jeremy Grab of Daniel Island (2 and 1) and Dallery to Andrew Novak of Mount Pleasant (3 and 2).

2012 champion, Matthew Laydon of Charleston needed all 18 holes to sneak past Charleston Southern University's Julian Keur of Summerville by a 1 up score. Rising University of Alabama sophomore Jonathan Hardee, 19 of Greer knocked out the highest remaining seeded player in Brandon Truesdale of Winnsboro, 1 up.

Semifinal Re-Cap

In the afternoon semifinal matches, an all-Wofford final was spoiled when Jonathan Hardee needed to 20 holes to outlast Jeremy Grab of Mount Pleasant.

Grab's teammate, Andrew Novak overcame a two hole deficit thru seven holes to defeat 2012 champion Matthew Laydon by a 3 and 2 margin.
