NC Pros Lead 3-1 at Tar Heel Cup

Wallace, NC - Two teams of the best playing amateurs and PGA Professionals from the state of North Carolina met for the 21st time in a friendly team match play event called the "Tar Heel Cup."  River Landing Country Club located in Wallace, NC is hosting this event for the first time on its River Course.

The Professionals won three out of four four-ball matches where the better score of two partners for each hole is the one that counts.  Each match was worth one point.

Despite this early lead, the amateurs should feel confident of their chances for a comeback due to recent history.  They've won the last three matches and tied the two before that.  While the tide has flowed in the amateurs' direction of late, the Professionals still lead the series with a record of 14-5-1.

Day two will feature eight singles matches starting at 8:00 AM.  6 ½ points are needed to win, and the amateurs will retain the cup with a 6-point halve.
