Zach Seabolt leads Carolinas Amateur after 2 rounds
Yesterday's suspended second round of the Carolinas Amateur Championship continued this morning beginning at 8:00am. Light rain fell during the first hour of play but clearing skies may bring better weather conditions for the upcoming third round Saturday afternoon.
First round leader Zach Seabolt of Raleigh, NC carded a 1-under par 71 to take over as the tournament leader after 2 complete rounds. His two day total of 141 places him one stroke ahead of Taylor Dickson, Gastonia, NC who had the low round of the tournament (67, 5-under) in round 2. Following Taylor in third place is Jarrett Swan of Mount Pleasant, SC at 143 (1 under). Two other competitors are tied for fourth at even par 144, Luke Haithcock, Burlington, NC and Eric Brady of Cary, NC.
First round co-leader Trace Crowe, Easley, SC scored a 78 to fall to +4 for the tournament, tied for 13th. Scott Harvey, the 2011 Carolinas Amateur Champion from Greensboro, NC and Todd Eckstein of Durham, NC each scored 69s (3-under par) to climb to a four way tie for 6th place along with Carter Jenkins, Raleigh, NC and Steve Agazzi, Charleston, SC.
The field will be cut to the top 60 players plus ties for
rounds 3 and 4. Round 3 play is scheduled to begin at noon on Saturday with a
double tee start. The tournament will conclude with an additional 18 holes of
stroke play on Sunday. The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, SC is hosting this
year’s championship. The Ocean Course was the site for last year’s 2012 PGA
Championship.

Capers Cup Results
The Frank F. Capers Cup Team Competition is held during rounds one and two of the Carolinas Amateur Championship that dates back to 1913. Three or four bona fide members from the same club comprise a team. The low three scores count each round. Seven teams from across the Carolinas comprised the field this year.
The team from River Run Country Club in Davidson, NC won this year's event with a two-day total of 454. Winning team members are William Gordon of Davidson, NC, Clay Brown of Davidson, NC, Steve Harwell of Mooresville, NC and Spencer Lawson of Davidson, NC.
