Preview: 25th NC Junior Girls' Championship

 
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (June 11, 2021) -- The Carolinas Golf Association will conduct the 25th North Carolina Junior Girls’ Championship at Catawba Country Club in Newton, N.C. from June 15 - 18, 2021. The field will compete at 6,076 yards (36-36--72) (76.5/132).

In the tradition of golfing excellence, Donald Ross, famed architect of Pinehurst's prestigious No. 2 Course, among numerous others, was retained to craft a course guaranteed to deliver a unique golfing experience.  The result of Ross' effort has both delighted and challenged players at Catawba Country Club ever since - a distinctive golf course that is always a challenge, never mastered and, above all, playable day in and day out.This is the first time that the North Carolina Junior Girls’ Championship will be played at Catawba Country Club.

 

The 25th N.C. Junior Girls’ Championship is conducted at 36 holes of stroke play qualifying, then cuts to the Top 32 for match play. There are no consolation matches. There is only one division. Trophies are awarded to the champion, runner-up, semi-finalists, quarterfinalists and stroke play qualifying medalist.

 

Entry is open to any female amateur golfer under the age of 19 as of June 18, 2021, who has not started college, is a legal resident of North Carolina, is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has a current USGA Handicap Index® at a CGA member club.

Round of 32 Matches - Starting at approximately 3:00 p.m. (Shotgun Start)

Thursday, June 17
Round of 16 Match Play
Starting times begin at 8:00 a.m.
Quarterfinal Match Play - Starting at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Friday, June 18
Semi-Final Matches - Starting times begin at 8:00 a.m.
Final Match beginning at approximately 12:30 p.m.

 

About the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA)

The CGA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational organization that was founded in 1909 to promote and to protect the game of golf in the Carolinas by providing competitions, education, support and benefits to golf clubs and golfers. The CGA is the second largest golf association in the country with over 700 member clubs represented by nearly 150,000 individuals.

The CGF has distributed nearly $2,000,000 since 1977 to benefit Carolinas' golf initiatives including junior and women's programs.
