The "Elite 8" is set. On Saturday (October 19), Anderson Creek (Spring Lake, NC) met The Crossings (Durham, NC) and came away with a 21 to 15 win. AC's Allen Hanslovan teamed up with Francis Debois to take all 6 points after both players posted 72 over Greg Democko and McGr2egor Paul on their home course. Teammates Chuck Otterstedt with Tony Cavalieri followed with another 6 point win for a 16 to 2 lead. At The Crossings, Chris Parker and Ken Fail won their individual matches for Anderson Creek to accumulate enough points for the win. Both matches must have been close because the four-ball points went to Jerry Widdowson and David Shrewsbury of the Crossings. Chris Hughes (The Crossings) led all scorers with a 2 under 70 as he and Wayne King took all 6 points to lead their teams efforts. Anderson Creek will now meet Bentwinds Country Club in the quarterfinals.

The Club @ Longview (Waxhaw, NC) squared off against Rolling Hills CC (Monroe, NC) last Saturday as well and Longview doubled the score (24 to 12) by winning 6 of 8 individual matches at home and 3 more at Rolling Hills. Hank Hanegraaff and Sully McConnell led the Longview contingent with a 6 point win at home while captain Jack Skolds with Chris Cary won 5 match points at RHCC. Rolling Hills Jeff Avant led all scorers with a 69 as he and Bob Desjardins teamed up for 6 points to lead Rolling Hills. Longview will set its sights on Fort Mill Golf Club in the 3rd round.

The 8th and final spot was determined Sunday when Fort Mill GC (Fort Mill, SC) advanced after beating Tega Cay G&CC (Tega Cay, SC) in overtime. Both teams recorded 14 points at their home course with FMGC taking the singles matches 13 to 11 while Tega Cay won more four-ball points 7 to 5. In sudden death, Fort Mill's Jamie Lightsey and Mike Granger won the first hole, 4-2 over Jason Taylor and Jason Tannenbaum at FMGC. Teammates Chris Bockman and Mike Trull, which lost 5 to 1 during regulation play, won the first hole 5-1 over Adam Byerly and Chuck Kelker at Tega Cay. Fort Mill won this championship in 2011 and was runner-up to River Hills CC last year.
