64th Carolinas Junior Championship Heads to High Point CC on July 30-August 1

WEST END, NC -- The Carolinas Golf Association's 64th Carolinas Junior Boys Championship will take place on July 30- August 1 at High Point Country Club’s Willow Creek Course in High Point, NC.

The championship format is 54-holes of stroke play. The championship yardage is 6,982 yards, par 72. The field will be cut to the low half and ties after 36 holes.

Entry is open to any male amateur golfer who has not reached his 19th birthday by August 1, 2013, who has not started college, is a legal resident of North Carolina or South Carolina, is a member or their parent is a member in good standing of a club which is a member of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) and has a current USGA handicap index® at a CGA member club that does not exceed 18.4.  The field of 108 golfers will compete in one division for the championship.

The overall champion and overall runner-up will be invited to represent the Carolinas in the Carolinas-Virginias Junior Team matches at Boonsboro CC in Lynchburg, VA on August 17-18, 2013.

The scoring record for this event is held by Vince Hatfield and George Bryan IV who have scored a 199 for the three day event. Larry Beck of Kinston, NC and Jack Lewis, Jr. of Florence, SC hold the record for the most wins in this event.   Beck won his titles in 1955, 56, 57 and Lewis won his in 1963, 64, 65.  This is the 13th CGA championship hosted by High Point Country Club’s Willow Creek course.
